Critical Care

Dr. Lando confers with a nurse regarding a patient's chart

In addition to pulmonary and sleep expertise, our physicians are board certified in critical care medicine, having acquired the specific training, knowledge and experience to care for the most critically ill patients. We provide advanced care for those with illnesses that have progressed to the point where they may be life-threatening. These patients have complex needs and are hospitalized in the intensive care unit (ICU).

Our critical care physicians (also known as intensivists) collaborate 24 hours a day with the highly skilled ICU staff and a variety of other specialists—both medical and surgical—to provide immediate, comprehensive care.

At Pulmonary Associates of Lancaster, we understand that periods of critical illness can be especially challenging and stressful for patients, as well as for their families. We educate family members about the resources available to them and encourage them to participate with their loved ones in making decisions about treatment.
